Olivia Woosnam is a Certified Environmental Practitioner with a Master’s degree in environmental management and a Bachelor (politics & major in strategic management) with First Class Hons in environmental policy. After working on the Marrakech Process at the United Nations, she moved to Brisbane in 2007 and quickly specialised in applied Koala research. She and her husband Alex Dudkowski pioneered a range of powerful tools & methods for non-invasive Koala genetic studies that enable effective conservation plans. She spent the last 10 years optimising these tools, that are now highly suited to the citizen-science model. Olivia firmly believes that local communities must be allowed to lead Koala research, to ensure data transparency and hold authorities accountable. At P4N, she will continue to empower community groups and First Nations people to expand this critical research and shape effective Koala recovery strategies. She continues to be the co-owner and director of OWAD, with her husband Alex Dudkowski, where they continue their state of the art in-situ decontamination activities.
