Conducted high-level medical research to complete a series of projects initiated in my Ph.D. and trained junior graduate students on research and analysis methods to advance their thesis projects. Participated in the development and review of animal ethics protocol and Standard Operating Procedures.

Conducted research at the Akay Laboratory at the University of Dalhousie. Utilizing cutting-edge genetics and neurophysiological techniques to characterize spinal cord sensorimotor networks, to provide clinical research with new avenues to improve motor function in individuals with neurological injury or disease. Conducted collaborative medical research with high-level academic teams from Drexel University and Rutgers University. Mentored several undergraduate students and participated on several student committees, including the faculty of medicine graduate student society (FMGSS), and co-president of the medical neuroscience graduate student society.

My role as a teaching assistant was to help students learn about the neuroanatomy of the human nervous system. Here, I exhibited the ability to communicate in numerous diverse ways that were optimal for the specific undergraduate student. Additionally, I marked and invigilate exams.

Conducting research under the supervision of Dr. Frédéric Bretzner at the Université Laval. Utilizing a combination of behavioral, neuroanatomical, kinematic, and electrophysiological techniques performed in a transgenic mice model. Mentored several summer students and where my role was to mentor undergraduates and teach them laboratory safety rules and help them to further their knowledge. My work led to the publication of four peer-reviewed articles

Performed animal surgery to test the effect of DSCAM on motor cortex development. Worked with several summer students to perform several anatomical and electrophysiological experiments.

Honor’s student in Dr. Jorge Soliz’s laboratory. Performed animal trials to test the effect of erythropoietin on the hypercapnic ventilatory response during mouse development. Gained experience with animal experiments, handling, and care.
