I work on the BFF Board helping give strategic direction and making decisions affecting the charity. But I also get involved in the work with the beneficiaries and get to see how transformative BFFs work can be. Using my lifetime public affairs skills and experience I also advise on the public affairs for BFF.BFF is a charity providing training and support to people who have been impacted by homelessness, mental health, addiction, those with a criminal record or who are at risk of homelessness. Its programmes focus on getting people into fulfilling and meaningful employment, thus breaking the cycle of homelessness, unemployment and poverty.BFF's solution is based around simple, good food; cooking it and serving it. At Beyond Food, we aim to inspire people to begin the process of developing skills and attitudes that can become the foundation for their work and life for the future. We bring freshly cooked food into the lives of vulnerable people, as it plays a crucial role in helping individuals to stand on their own two feet.

Now devoting my time to issues I care about and to be engaged in projects, programmes and campaigns across the public affairs, cycling and transport fields, both here in the UK and beyond. As someone that has worked in this sector for a long time and as a city walker, cyclist, public transport user & car driver I have a lot of experience. Velo-Mondial is the international organisation working to promote cycling at a global level. As a founder board member I worked on projects include; two European Commission funded benchmarking studies – NATCYP and UTBI and two Velo Mondial international conferences in Amsterdam and Cape Town. Also worked on developing a web-based information project - Veloinfo, a city-cycling project SPICYCLES, and other projects and plans. Also wrote a report regarding the development of cycle paths in Doha, Qatar.

Providing the Secretariat to the group, I helped organise the regular meetings and events of the group, speakers, and managed the twitter account, website and membership listings. The group gives a cross-party voice for London issues, was formed in May 2015 and is the first time that an all party group for London has existed. As of July 2018, it had 62 members with 45 members of Parliament (MPs) and 17 Peers. With the challenges that the capital faces, the group's wide cross-party membership allows it to speak on behalf of London at the highest levels.

I headed London Councils' engagement work on public affairs. Working with policy colleagues, I monitored Parliament, government departments, the London Assembly and other organisations. I worked with MPs, Peers and others to help ensure the best outcomes in policy and legislative terms. This work included working on specific Bills and Committees etc as well working on as reputational issues and helping to foster political support for change. I also communicated with officers working on public affairs issues in London Councils' member organisations - all the London boroughs and the City of London.

Appointed by the Minister of Transport as a member of the UK’s National Cycling Strategy Board. This body helped ensure the delivery of the national targets to increase cycle use, as well as offering advice to the Ministry of Transport ministers and officials. Worked with other board members to develop and set up a professional training course for practitioners.

As Secretariat to All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group (APPCG) in the UK Parliament I organised the group's monthly meeting and talks programme as well as an annual reception and bike ride and encouraged new members from both houses of Parliament. Also produced a regular newsletter for the group. On the lobbying side, I also monitored Parliament for Bills and debates of interest, and also provided briefings and proposed questions. Also produced a weekly summary of transport issues for electronic distribution to members.

Director of the international Velo-city and regional Velo-regio cycle planning conference series. Responsible for the overall future direction of the conference series and its development. This involved running the process to select future conference locations liaising with senior politicians and officials in city administrations, as well as working with selected cities on their event. Worked on 13 Velo-city conferences in this time and developed the series into a well-respected brand. Also organised 4 Velo-region regionally-based cycle conferences in this time.

Lobbied Parliament to secure improved facilities for bicycles on the Channel Tunnel services. Worked during the duration of the parliamentary process including petitioning and giving evidence to the Select committee, and all later stages of the Bill. An amendment was proposed to the Bill and we succeeded in changing the law in Committee stage ensuring access. Also negotiated with Eurotunnel plc for a joint study to determine demand and to propose service improvements. This led to the current service being set up for cyclists.
