Droplaugarstaðir is a retirement home for people in poor health, however every individual's situation is quite different.I worked as an entertainer and organised social events such as games, reading, live music, crafts and chat, and social café. I'm glad to say that I improved the café meetings, which took place in the retirement's home lovely greenhouse, and started a theme involving different cultures. A country was picked and it's traditional music was played. Snacks from that country were served if available and folktales were read. This was a success and increased participation of those who were capable of joining us. This has been continued since I had to leave.Every day I took care of the greenhouse and an hour every day I worked with Alzheimer's patients. We took walks, read books or had conversations. I also assisted the nurses if necessary. This retirement home is a wonderful place and the staff is very loving. I'm glad that I got to contribute to making it even more welcoming.
