I worked for 5 summers in various capacities for the Twin Falls District Bureau of Land Management, including leading the fire prevention, mitigation and education team and serving as the fire information officer for the district. -Summer of 2010: I worked on the district's fire mitigation, education and prevention team to help decrease the number of human caused fires in the district. -Summers of 2011, 2012: I led the district's fire prevention, mitigation and education team and coordinated dozens of public affairs events. We developed several programs on fire prevention and presented them to elementary schools, community groups and professional organizations. I also started working with the district public affairs officers to develop media plans and press releases.-Summer of 2013: Continued my previous duties and became the primary fire public information officer (PIOF) for the district. I coordinated media briefings, press releases, fire-line visits and interviews for both a local and national audience. -Initially coordinated the press response and served as the sole media point of contact for several fires which would later expand to have over 50 individuals involved in the public affairs effort. One of these fires made national headlines on all the major networks (Beaver Creek Fire). I continued to work on the Incident management team once they arrived and worked to evacuate over 2,000 homes. -Summer of 2014: Continued my previous duties and worked on a fire prevention team called into our district to work on reducing human caused fires. Helped design and manage a $50,000 ad campaign to reduce human caused fires in the district. From 2011-2014 I also fought fire on engines and hand crews when the need or opportunity arose on incidents off all sizes.
