I was tasked with investigating and planning how to add support for Windows 7 64-bit clients in the existing client infrastructure for Windows 7 32-bit clients in Stockholm City. Since the client environment in Stockholm City is managed by Volvo IT this involved inventorying all associated systems and processes, such as software distribution, printing, ordering support, hardware and client management systems.To facilitate this process I worked with tools such as mind maps in Mindjet MindManager to both inventory and plan the project and with Microsoft Visio using the graphical modeling language Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN 2.0) to illustrate and improve understanding of the various business and technical processes involved.

Continuing my work as a subcontractor for Volvo IT, I was assigned the position of lead architect for the MyPlace Windows 7 project which involved developing a new Windows 7 64-bit client to replace the existing Windows XP client in use within the Volvo group. The MyPlace platform is a highly managed client environment meaning that numerous systems, both developed in house and delivered by various software vendors, are involved in supporting and managing the client platform and the end users.My work in the project primarily consisted of identifying and evaluating the business demands and technical requirements, analyzing the necessary changes to the involved systems and coordinating the effort to further develop and update these systems to support the new client platform.
