Postdoctoral Fellow
Current- Demonstrated application of quantum logic protocols to solid-state qubit ensembles, consisting of diamond nitrogen-vacancies (NVs), which increased the AC sensing signal to noise ratio by 33x and achieved AC.
- Designed Monte Carlo (MC) simulations of DC sensitivity for solid-state qubit magnetometers, based on properties including optical power, NV densities, diamond sensing volume, and microwave fields.
- Built an solid-state qubit magnetometer system to validate MC simulations and characterized system noise from sources including laser, acoustic-optic modulator, microwave signal generators, positioning stability.
- Developed simulations interactions between solid-state qubits with the Quantum Toolbox in Python (QuTiP) for predicating behavior of NV ensembles under different quantum control protocols.
- Implemented and extended a Python package (OptBayes from NIST) for adaptive measurements, leading to a 10x reduction in the time required for the calibration of NVs in AC and DC magnetometry measurements.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Developing quantum sensing with nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond by exploring optimal material characteristics and efficient readout techniques.
Graduate Research Assistant
- Developed combined optical spectroscopy methods for micrometer scale temperature measurements of resolution 100 mK in semiconductors and magnetic materials.
- Experimentally tested transport theories of magnons and phonons for heat driven spin currents in magnetic materials, working closely with mechanical engineering and materials science groups.
- First reported measurements of the phonon dependence of the spin-phonon interaction in yttrium iron garnet (YIG), a favored material for room temperature magnonics, using Raman microscopy.
- Designed calibration procedures for maintaining measurement precision with temperatures up to 650 Cº accounting for sample drift and changes in thermally dependent optical properties.
- Designed and built multiple benchtop optical systems incorporating spectrometers, CCDs, photodiodes, filters, polarization control, data acquisition devices, DAQs, and automation with LabView.
- Coordinated collaboration between 6 multi-disciplinary research groups (e.g., physics, engineering, materials) for the SHINES Energy Front Research Center, resulting in 6 peer-reviewed publications.
Graduate Teaching Assistant
Taught undergraduate classes of 4-130 students, topics included classic mechanics and electromagnetism
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Examined fluorescent structures of DNA and silver atom clusters for biological and nanoscale sensing. Performed transmission/absorption spectroscopy measurements quantifing quantum yield of known fluorophores. Developed first parameters and performed molecular dynamics simulations and stability analysis of different DNA strand and silver atom cluster.
Traffic & Training Manager
Managed onboarding and training of new radio programmers. Revised, updated, and tested new training procedures and protocols. Maintained programming logs in accordance with FCC guidelines. Served on station Executive Committee in charge on governing the stations policies, goals, outreach, and overall performance.
Assistant Engineer
Developed and installed station wide listening system to improved monitor of on air programming. Maintained, managed, and repaired station's audio equipment. Served on station Executive Committee in charge on governing the stations policies, goals, outreach, and overall performance.
