As a project manager in the Electric System Planning Department at Burns & McDonnell, I specialize in transmission planning studies, operations studies, distribution planning studies, industrial system (oil & gas facility) studies, NERC Compliance studies/gap analysis, load and generation interconnection studies and equipment specification studies. Specific studies include transient stability studies, power flow analysis, short circuit analysis, transfer capability assessment, switching transient studies, generation interconnection studies (feasibility study, system impact study, facility study), line voltage profile assessment, series capacitor studies, switching transient studies (TOV/TRV).My strong technical background coupled with my business acumen enable me to consistently manage projects to the client’s utmost satisfaction, on time and within budget.In addition, I am responsible for business development in the Southwest (SPP), Southeast (SERC, FRCC) and Texas (ERCOT) regions. This includes sales and marketing of new clients, proposal and bid package preparation as well as client coordination and maintenance.

The following is a summary of my accomplishments as an operations coordination engineer at the AESO:• Established working relationships with Transmission Facility Owners (TFO's) and Generating Facility Owners (GFO’s) to effectively assess short-term outages, long-term maintenance schedules and ensure that outage schedules from the TFO's and GFO's do not compromise the reliability of the system.• Participated in the Operations Coordination 24-hour On-call effort to provide real-time engineering support to the System Control Center.• Performed analysis and contingency studies on weekly transmission and generator outages to produce the weekly operations coordination plan.• Effectively used the Power System Simulator for Engineering (PSS/E) and the real time system simulator (Ranger) to conduct system studies and assess conflicting outages.• Interfaced with the System Control Center on real-time and long-term operational issues.• Administered the outage database to keep track of the results of the contingency studies. Daily Retrieval of Generator outages posted in the Energy Trading System (ETS). Using the outage information together with the Alberta Internal Load Forecast to create daily supply and demand reports that are posted on the AESO's website.• Effectively led weekly operations coordination meetings with the System Control Center Personnel and Operations Coordination Personnel to discuss the upcoming scheduled outages and their impact on the safe and reliable operation of the system.• Applied the AESO's Operation Policies and Procedures (OPPs) to coordinate system element outages like transmission line outages, capacitor outages, and generator outages.

The following is a summary of my accomplishments as an Engineer-In-Training with ATCO Electric:• Designed underground distribution systems for residential and commercial subdivisions using developer drawings, lot layouts and lightning requirements along with preliminary deep water and sewer facility designs.• Created material lists from the approved underground system design using ATCO's construction standards and the developer's specifications.• Developed project material and labor cost estimates from the approved project designs and preliminary material list.• Coordinated the scheduling of project construction depending on crew availability, developer's preferred installed date, construction site readiness and weather conditions.• Reviewed survey stake drawings and compared them to the approved design to verify the accurate positioning of street lights, pedestals and transformers, and the routing of the underground conductor.• Coordinated and inspected the installation of underground power system facilities as well as the installation of other shallow utility facilities like gas pipelines, telecommunication fiber cable and pedestals and television cable facilities.• Resolved on-site construction issues and adapted the existing design to accommodate unexpected conflicts while ensuring that the projects were completed on time and within +/- 10% of the approved budget.• Verified project as-built drawings against the project designs and checked for non-compliance with utility standards.• Compiled the project actual costs upon completion of the project and determined the variance between actual and estimated costs.• Created and analyzed models of distribution systems in PSS/ADEPT using geographical maps and used the models to perform load flow and fault analysis.• Performed studies on areas with high load growth to determine if and when system upgrades will be required to accommodate the increase in the system load.
