Recently started a new role as Scaling Advisor for the Graduation Approach to poverty reduction.“The Graduation approach is a holistic livelihoods programme designed to address the multidimensional needs of extreme poor households. It consists of five core components: time-limited consumption support; a savings component; an asset transfer; training in how to use the asset; and life skills coaching and mentoring. The theory of change underlying the model is that this mix of interventions, offered in the appropriate sequence, would help the ultra-poor to “graduate” out of extreme poverty within a defined time period.” - Ford Foundation, 2016Sola is one of the leading voices advocating for the application of Multi-dimensional Index (MPI) in understanding grassroots poverty in Nigeria. FounderShe Foundation Jan 2019 - PresentNigeriaSHE (Social Impact, Healthcare, and Education) Foundation’s theory of change believes that not until underlying causes of poverty are multidimensionally assessed, the world would yet again miss the opportunity to End Extreme Poverty by 2030. The Foundation believes that fundamental to achieving this goal is the participation of social enterprises who create innovative market opportunities for the under-served, excluded One Billion, living at the Bottom of the Pyramid. SHE Foundation works with Data labs, economists, social enterprises, innovators and civil societies to provide evidence-based sub-national data for policy change that leads to sustained economic wealth.Since inception in 2019, it has achieved the following: 1. Submitted joint proposal with the UNDP in Nigeria and secured the approval of USD1.6m from the UN COVID Basket Fund for the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), to conduct the Nigeria 2020 COVID-19 impact assessment and National Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) survey 2. Provides technical support to projects on the Nigeria Economic Sustainability Plan (NESP), on behavioural insights and analysis.3. Published five policy papers on Impact of COVID-19 on Education, Health and Financial sectors; Out of school children and Almajiri; and on the recent National Assembly Tertiary Institution Sexual and Gender-based violence bill 4.
