Oluwakemi Openibo has been involved in STEM all her life, but when she started at Drexel University, she came in as an undecided student. Wanting to objectify her academic experience, she took courses in public health, product design, chemistry, biology, psychology, economics, philosophy, and marketing. Oluwakemi knew she was not uncertain but searching for what was calling her name. If given the chance, Oluwakemi will grab hold of every opportunity that comes her way. Evidently, this is how she experiences school--taking bits and pieces of every subject and combining them into a recipe catered to her. Oluwakemi is the type of person who inquires about the world around her, seeking to understand beyond what meets her gaze. She always showed interest in human processing, behavior, cognition, and emotions, but she eventually became so intrigued by business topics that she could not ignore them. After her first year at Drexel, Oluwakemi decided to start her academic journey from scratch. Searching through Drexel's Catalog, she came across Behavioral Economics, Business, and Organization (BEBO). This major combined the components of psychology she enjoyed with her newly acquired curiosity about the business world. A simple task such as reevaluating her as a student helped her get her foot out the door and led her to pursue BEBO as a major. There is no doubt in her mind that she will be successful in whatever she pursues. Oluwakemi describes herself as a seed planted in cracked soil that grows and blossoms into something beautiful. Regardless of the challenges she may face or how she starts, Oluwakemi will always cross the finish line and make something out of nothing.
