Omar David Arencibia, popularly known as "David Ala Aggayu" or Dr. Obà Oriaté David Alá Aggayú, has been a faithful precursor of the indigenous and authentic roots of the Yoruba-Lúkúmí Osha Rule. He is a professor in Ifá-Orisa literature and an educator in Nkinsi Malongo teaching. Born on a Tuesday, September 2, 1986, at the Ramón González Coro hospital in Vedado Havana, he was subsequently raised for eleven years in the humble suburbs of Los Pocitos, Marianao. At the age of 23, Dr. David Ala Aggayu was initiated as a Priest of Aggayú, by his godmother; Teresa Gonzales Omi Sainde and Alina Blanco Omi Iya, performing the initiation of Shangó Oro Aggayú, on a Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Hialeah, Florida. David Arencibia began to study ten hours a day, between theory and practice with other high-end Obàses, he was trained in ceremonies, prayers, snail and songs. After finishing his Iyaworaje, he directed his first saint with one (1) year and five (5) months of consecration, and from there until today, the obsession with study has not diminished in him. Constant study has become a resounding compulsive obsession that, the more he studies, the more questions he asks and the more thirst he has to satisfy a deep and broad knowledge of this religion.Oba Oriate David Ala Aggayu is the Founder and President of the first Yoruba Cabildo of Mexico, which he founded in 2016, currently the brotherhood operates with more than 400 members. David Alá Aggayu is also Akpón, singer of Aña, of the Yoruba Lúkúmí and Malongo (Palo Mayombe) folklore. Obà Oriaté David Alá Aggayu has traveled to more than 30 States including UNESCO to carry out his deep field and literary research about Afro-Cuban roots and traditions. In 2018, he was initiated as a Mason in the Very Respectable Grand Lodge of the Valley of Mexico, being his Venerable; the 33 degree Master Mason Jair Quiroz, a highly respected man, who initiated David into Masonry. Currently, David Ala Aggayu is a Master Mason. He belongs to the ancient Matanzas santor branch, Los Oviedos de Matanzas. He has currently officiated more than 10,000 religious ceremonies, among them, the most sophisticated in Afro-Cuban lukumi and nkisi malongo practices. Currently, David Ala Aggayu is a family man and an active writer, professor, and religious priest, residing in Houston, Texas, in his home with his wife Reina Arencibia and his son David Yunior Arencibia. Dr. Omar David Arencibia teaches classes in five online virtual religious schools, where he has 1200 students.
