I serve as a legal partner to individuals, corporate entities, and not-for-profit business regarding their legal rights, responsibilities and obligations regarding federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and compliance issues that impact their business or lives. I have developed litigation strategies in federal and state courts for civil, commercial, and criminal cases. I have extensive experience representing clients in trial courts, appellate courts, and administrative hearings. As a result, I have drafted and responded to complaints, managed discovery requests, served and answered subpoena requests, conducted wide-ranging investigations, interviewed cooperative and hostile witness, presented and conducted depositions of lay witnesses, medical doctors, and other experts covering a wide area of specialization.I have tried over numerous jury trial and even more bench trials, I have researched and written over 70 appellate briefs. Despite my comprehensive litigation background, I always seek to advice my clients on ways to avoid it by providing timely legal advice on relevant legal issues while developing and implementing new internal policies, protocols or training programs that ensure that my client’s employees/volunteers always maintain best practices and compliance with new or changing laws or regulations and that their reputation, trade secrets, internal procedures, misappropriation of business relationships, and intellectual property are protected. Many times the best way to avoid litigation is to have a well drafted agreement. In this vein, I have drafted employment contracts; NDA’s, MSA’s and SOW’s, purchase agreements, memorandums of understandings, residential and commercial leases, contract renewals and amendments, vendor contracts; bills of lading, real estate contracts, contracts for the sale of business, and release of liability and civil settlements. Many of the contracts that have been challenged and affirmed.

I represented the State of Illinois as an Assistant State's Attorney in the one of the largest unified court systems in the world and the 2nd largest prosecutorial offices in the country. I prosecuted felony and misdemeanor cases in trial and appellate courts including violent and non-violent offenses, conspiracy, mental competency, statutory construction, and constitutionality of statutes.I conducted investigations regarding allegations of criminal activity, interviewed witnesses, experts, forensic scientists, police officers, and victims. I made credibility determinations and analyzed and reviewed evidence to determine whether to prosecute; reduce, dismiss or dismiss charges or add criminal charges; or whether to engage in plea negotiations I have a proven ability to present direct and cross examination of expert and lay witnesses, to research and draft complex and novel arguments in cases of first-impression, and to train, supervise and mentor junior attorneys on trial and appellate advocacy but also on professional conduct and ethics. I have been the lead author of numerous appellate briefs covering wide range of appellate issues including plain error, insanity, constitutionality of statutes, due process, competency to stand trial or understand Miranda, statutory construction, mandatory consecutive sentences, and actual innocence in post-conviction petitions.I haved the tremendous honor to console and explain complicated legal concepts to victims of crime and their family. The joy of obtaining justice for victims unfortunately also came with the all-to-often situation where I needed to tell the victim that he or she would not get the justice they deserved as a result of a judicial finding, a finding of not guilty, and sometimes even a lack of evidence.
