I’m an extremely passionate, goal-driven Mechanical Engineer who graduated from the American University of Sharjah. I am also proudly the COO & Co-Founder of U-Light, a social enterprise start-up aimed at providing off-the-grid communities in Africa with a simple, affordable and reliable source of electricity.Besides completing the university requirements for my degree, I was always striving for different opportunities to gain knowledge and experience in different fields. Throughout my University journey I was always an active member in programs that would enhance my debating and negotiation skills such as the Model United Nations; and getting to debate and defend my case in the UN General Assembly was a once in a life-time opportunity to showcase these skills. After my graduation, I was hired as a Sales Engineer at ADOSET Trading & Oil Services Est. I was responsible for the Gulf sales and after-sale services of 8 of the most reputed mechanical companies in mechanical equipment."I left my daily job to chase my dream"Joining the prestigious Hult Prize competition was a chance I wouldn't miss. I am currently leading an award-winning social enterprise start-up (U-Light) that provides power on demand to off-the-grid communities worldwide. We, a team of 4 enthusiastic and smart individuals, qualified from over 20,000 teams globally and attended a 6-week accelerator program, at Hult Business School in London. That taught us a lot about building businesses, creating business models, marketing and sales. It also connected us to a lot of reputable companies’ CEOs and experts in all different fields. Following that was my trip to Nigeria where I carried a pilot program to get customer feedback and proper market research, secured pre-orders and marketed our product to NGOs. This was definitely one of the most enriching experiences ever.
