Hassi Messaoud Oil Field, a giant, multi-layered, very heterogeneous, sandstone reservoir, with >40 BSTB oil. Managing a multi-disciplinary team of technical experts (~30) charged with generation of mature development opportunities. Production and reservoir management and optimization of 1000+ wells with 350 MBOPD production rate. Act as focal point for contact with product service lines and client (Sonatrach). Co-ordinate between reservoir management, field operations and reservoir studies teams.

♣ 2012-2016: (Trainer in UPDC)♣ Selected by Management to instruct/train applied petroleum engineering in a multidisciplinary Upstream life cycle training program, at the Upstream Professional Development Centre (UPDC). Taught petroleum and reservoir engineering courses for non-petroleum engineers. Also developed content for water-flooding and reservoir management courses ♣ 2000-2015: (Major accomplishments )♣ In the reservoir management department, managed programs including field development, reservoir heterogeneity characterization, reservoir simulation, risk & uncertainty, evaluation studies of carbonate & sandstone reservoirs, water management, etc.♣ Khurais Mega Field Development Project (USD 12 billion): The Increment added 1.2 million BPD of high quality AL crude oil to Saudi Arabia’s export capacity and delivered the project 30% under budget & 6 months ahead of scheduled on-stream date♣ Designed & executed master increment development plans for 3 fractured carbonate oil fields, including well placement, spacing, completion design for drilling 400+ wells, comprising horizontal producers, horizontal water injectors, artificial lift (ESP), observation wells & workovers♣ Optimized oil producer completions with 50% cost savings as a result of preparing a unique Khurais field pre-drilling reservoir heterogeneity characterization & prediction map, incorporating all available historical vertical well, static & dynamic data, formed basis for the master field development plan & special equipment requirements♣ Added additional production capacity of 200,000 BOPD to the Ghawar (fractured carbonate), the world’s biggest oil field (+5 million BOPD). Developed an optimized side-track, horizontal oil well completion methodology for exploitation of thin remaining oil columns and delivered a +5% increase in oil recovery ♣ For a new 300,000 BOPD Increment, prepared an evaluation study & plan for a very low permeability reservoir
