Currently Director of College of Environmental Design’s Undergraduate Advising Office at UC Berkeley.Previous role as Lead Reader and Diversity Coordinator for UC Berkeley’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, where I trained staff to ensure that our team met the transfer selection deadlines with the highest degree of accuracy thereby maintaining the integrity of the admissions process. My professional experience as a counselor began in my position as Interim Director of the Chicanx/Latinx Academic Student Development Office in which I provided informational and problem-solving advising to student peers. I continued to enhance my advising skills in my role as Coordinator of the Starting Point Mentorship Program in the Transfer, Re-entry, and Student Parent Center. I provided advising and problem-solving counseling to UC Berkeley students serving as Starting Point mentors. Through these experiences I have gained the skills that have allowed me to assess students’ sensitive, multidimensional and complex situations in order to provide them with strategies that successfully resolve personal and academic issues and allow them to matriculate and graduate from UC Berkeley.
