Participatory Infrastructure Project (PIP)• Managing around 30 infrastructure projects in informal areas in the Greater Cairo Region (GCR) of a total budget of around 15 million Euros in the following sectors: health, education, mobility, water and sanitation, markets, parks and recreational facilities, solid waste management implemented by GIZ• coordinates, assists and advises technically & financially on all issues related to infrastructure and construction projects• acts as focal point with the Giza Governorate and the ministry of housing for infrastructure related activities• coordinates and assists in performing consultants' procurement, evaluation activities and consultancy services for contracts preparation in coordination with the GIZ Country Office (CO) Finance, Contracts and Procurement Unit (FCPU)• prepares terms of reference for infrastructure and construction projects preliminary and feasibility studies, design, and supervision• reviews the work of international and national engineering consultants on the design, tendering, procurement and supervision activities• supports in formulating projects action plans and helps in synchronising the planning and budgeting systems and counterparts’ relevant work • Prepares reports as per the requirements of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and EU • Reviews and approves technically invoices of contractors and consultants• Is responsible for setting the capacity development strategy for infrastructure related activities• Set the basis for the financial reporting by international consultants and regularly reviews their financial reporting• Undertaking daily operational aspects of all issues related to infrastructure and construction projects• Drafting and translating official communications and documents

Participatory Deveolpment Programme (PDP)• Managing the implementation of around 30 infrastructure projects in 9 informal areas in the Greater Cairo Region (GCR) of a total budget of around 15 million Euros in the following sectors: health, education, mobility, water and sanitation, markets, parks and recreational facilities, solid waste management in cooperation with the Egyptian Government• Routinely manage financial and substantive reporting on around 30 European Union (EU) funded urban development projects in informal areas in Egypt, in coordination with the EU fund management component of a total budget of around 15 million Euros• Develop, maintain, and closely monitor records of meetings, expenses, and site visits • Conduct and document site visits• Oversee the tender procedures and procurement for EU urban development projects implemented in partnership with the Egyptian government under the EU guidelines using Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS).• Liaise effectively among a number of multi-national actors, including the PDP team, European project consultants, and Egyptian government actors; ensure smooth communication by providing Arabic to English interpretation and translation as needed • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the Egyptian government through regular contact with federal, municipal, and district government officials

• Assist the deputy head of the EU fund management component with managing EU funded urban development projects in informal areas in Egypt • Translate official documents from Arabic to English and English to Arabic • Conduct focus groups and site visits to conduct needs assessments• Facilitate communication between GIZ and MoHUUC by providing weekly updates in regular meetings on the progress of the infrastructure projects and capacity building measures being implemented

• Conduct detailed inspections of electrical work and closely review the shop drawings for the residential units and infrastructure at a number of construction sites in Cairo, ranging from housing developments on the outskirts of Cairo (Palm Hills Katameya, Ashgar City 6th of October compound, and the New Cairo Mall) to buildings in the heart of downtown Cairo (Steigenberger Hotel and QNB Bank office building on Tahrir Square)• Coordinate effectively with other actors in the construction process, including contractors, project owners, and other members of the inspection team through regular meetings to discuss adjustments in electrical work or shop drawings

• Serve as the face of the Brooks Egypt, a widely-respected construction company, by liaising with project owners and contractors working on a range of high-profile projects in Cairo, including the Nile Ritz Carlton Hotel, MIDOR (Middle East Oil Refinery) building, and the Military Medicine Academy• Manage daily on-site work of installation of Gypsum board ceilings and partitions, involving daily interaction and coordination with workers and project managers

• Simulate the use and distribution of WiMAX (4G) networks in complex urban areas in Cairo and Aswan using OPNet Simulator • Ensure quality access and measure by proof-testing Intel software and the Intel website

• Generate data and graphs about the efficacy and network performance of the Mobinil 3G network and monitor trends during peak hours of usage • Capitalize on newly introduced 3G technology in Egypt to develop knowledge about its use across urban and rural areas in Egypt through work with a cellular service provider

• Manage daily on-site work of installation of Gypsum board ceilings and partitions, involving daily interaction and coordination with workers and project managers
