I am a chemistry PhD candidate at MIT/Broad Institute in Sam Peng’s lab. In college, I was fascinated by the way molecules can come together to form functional units of life. While I had worked extensively on synthetic bio-inspired inorganic materials, I wanted to explore the biological world further. Now, I create nanoprobes using rare-earth metals which can be used to photostably track the dynamics of single biomolecules for long periods of time. I thoroughly enjoy the collaborative nature of scientific research and look forward to uncovering scientific phenomena with my team one molecular movie at a time. Aside from research, one of the reasons I chose to attend graduate school was to practice and improve my teaching. Education and science are Human Rights that must be accessible to everyone, and I am always thinking about ways I can make sure these rights are met. I have served as a teaching assistant in general chemistry (MIT 5.111), biological chemistry (MIT 5.07) and organic chemistry (UChicago CHEM 221/222). In my free time, I appreciate art through dancing, reading/writing poetry, visiting museums and cooking.
