Reactor Physics Lead providing oversight of Restart Safety Analyses supporting both updates to the reactor licencing basis as well as operation; from initial fuel load, through the approach to critical to the completion of reactor commissioning test / measurements. The responsibilities of the role include:1) Interface with nuclear safety analysis suppliers to form safety case for reactor restart and operation through to equilibrium fuel cycle by providing both technical direction and project oversight.2) Engage with Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) to secure approval for restart safety case through both presentation of analysis results to the CNSC staff and the preparation of written submissions. 3) Liaise with Operations and Return to Service teams to support and develop reactor behavior expectations prior to and following restart. Includes presentation of OPEX material and analysis to support reactor operating training.Also acted as Emergency Response Projection (ERP) Operator for Ontario Power Generation Plant Emergencies- In case of nuclear emergency, required respond to the OPG Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and perform public dose projection calculations as well as engage with Provincial Emergency Operations Center.- Drilled in various joined inter-agency emergency event scenarios- Proficient in the ERP suite of codes as well as Web EOC

The responsibilities of the Senior Technical Officer are to:(1) Lead, coordinate and perform nuclear safety assessments related to waste handling and storage for both used fuel and refurbishment wastes;These assessments include: (a) Shielding analysis to ensure public and occupational dose rates are below OPG targets and furthermore below regulator limits; and, (b) Common mode and waste handling accident assessments to ensure regulatory limits are not exceeded under any credible condition. (c) Support for ALARA assessment for worker dose(2) Support licensing submissions to the CNSC for OPG Waste Management Facility site expansion and the use of new dose calculation methods (use of MCNP);(3) Update OPG Waste Management Facility Safety Reports - Coordinated the assembly of the DWMF Safety Report Annex (submitted to CNSC January 2017); and,(4) Support the design of new nuclear waste containers (Bruce MCR and Darlington Refurbishment)

Performed reactor neutronics assessments in support of station operation and safety and licensing activities. Carried out shielding and dose assessments in support of nuclear waste storage facility expansion. Both of the aforementioned assessment included the statistical and interpretive analysis of code results as well as technical report writing to establish supportable safety cases for licensing submissions. Lead several research and development activities (through the COG cooperative) associated with (transport physics) code methodology development, code benchmarking and validation and the application of new statistical methods to improve safety margin (power reactor operational limits).

Working with the AMEC Foster Wheeler Nuclear Canada Quality Assurance Team, the responsibilities of the Local Corrective Action Coordinator are to:(1) Assemble, categorize and grade the severity of all QA events for presentation at the weekly management meeting;(2) Assign staff, schedules and effort related to corrective actions, track their progress and close once complete;(3) Attend monthly Corrective Action Review Board meetings;(4) Provide user support for the Preventive Local Correction System; and(5) Perform long term trend analysis related to Human Performance.This assignment included the opportunity to participate on a special quality breakthrough team and act as the Quality Assurance Director’s delegate.
