A public policy professional and civic engagement advocate with close to a decade of experience in the civic and social change sectors. Most recently, Omar was a National Urban Fellow at the Surdna Foundation, with its Inclusive Economies grant making program. As a National Urban Fellow, Omar completed a Master in Policy Management degree from the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy. Previously, Omar served as Program Director for Dominicanos USA in New York, an initiative dedicated to advancing the civic engagement of Dominican immigrants and Dominican descended individuals in the US. He specialized in projects dealing with Hispanic outreach, civic engagement and mobilization, and voter database management.Omar has been featured in media outlets such as NBC Latino, WNYC/NPR, NY1, Bronx12, and Bronxnet. In addition, Omar is a polished public speaker who has presented to audiences of fellow non-profit professionals, elected officials, students, funders, and policymakers regarding issues related to Hispanic voter engagement, Census mobilization, and naturalization initiatives.
