A 27-year law enforcement professional who worked his way up the ranks and retired as a Chief with the California Highway Patrol, Border Division. Skilled in leadership, government, law enforcement management, critical incident oversight, communication, conflict resolution, and inspiring and encouraging others. In his last assignment, he served as the Chief/Division Commander of Border Division which encompasses 9,300 square miles including San Diego, Orange, Imperial and Riverside Counties, serving 6.8 million people. He led a total staff of approximately 1,444 sworn and civilian employees. Known for developing meaningful professional relationships with local, state, federal, and international law enforcement partners. Professional law enforcement experience included field operations, the California Highway Patrol Academy, Personnel and Training Division, and Protective Services Division. Managed the statewide training program ensuring departmental and POST (Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training) policy adherence, leadership advising, and extensive teaching and leadership at the California Highway Patrol Academy.
