In charge of all: planning, deploying, and maintaining of IT infrastructure for Grace Children’s Home, an orphanage in Tijuana, MX. IT resources include: Computer network and lab, surveillance systems, IP based PBX system, Firewall, etc.Accomplishments include:• Designed and deployed a new Asterix based PBX system to replace old analog phone lines.• Oversaw the transition from individual PCs to a networked, domain-controlled environment.• Managed transition from in-house mail servers to cloud based services.

Montgomery, Alabama Area

Led a mixed team of military and contractor personnel in the Application Software Assurance Center of Excellence, a unit of the US Air Force tasked with fostering application security across the organization. Led software security assessments of numerous applications ranging from web based portals to embedded software used on military aircraft and weapon systems. Was responsible for coordinating with program management offices, planning and leading on-site application security assessments, supervising and mentoring team members, briefing upper and middle management, and acting as chief technical writer of all official reports from the team. ASACoE teams conduct security assessments of Air Force applications using static source code analysis, penetration testing, and database policy analysis; they also mentor key developers to ensure that the quality of code developed for the Air Force continues to improve.Accomplishments include: • Helped design and implement a software assurance assessment process which earned ASACoE a nomination for the 2010 Air Force Chief of Staff Team Excellence Award; one of the highest honors for which the ASACoE was eligible.• Became the person that was relied upon for training new team chiefs.• Provided information security related training to both coworkers and customers.• Became the “go-to” person for assessments involving UNIX and Linux environments.

Huntsville, Alabama Area

Part of a team tasked with security monitoring of the NASA Integrated Services Network; one of the largest Wide Area Networks in the world. Used a custom Intrusion Detection System to monitor for malicious network traffic and reacted to those threats as appropriate. These threats often included malware, automated scans, and more sophisticated hands-on cyber attacks. Special duties included the gathering of digital forensic evidence for law enforcement and internal investigations.Accomplishments include: • Successfully lobbied for the implementation of a whole new class of IDS signatures. These signatures were instrumental in uncovering ongoing criminal activities that would have otherwise continued unnoticed.• Participated in important inter-agency investigations of a national security nature.• Participated in re-engineering of network sensors, helping increase IDS coverage by more than 20%.
