I obtained a Licentiate Degree in Agriculture Engineering in 2005 at EARTH University in Limon, Costa Rica. I began my career with the Bermuda Government Department of Conservation Services as the Assistant Agriculture Officer where I was responsible for formulating and executing control programs for invasive plants, the promotion of home gardens and the inspection of crop quality for embargo purposes. After a 2 year stint with the government I branched off into the private sector co-founding the enterprise Unity Maintenance Edible Landscapes. This Company’s services include Edible Landscape Installation and Management for Residential, Commercial and Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) property owners. In 2010 I founded UTOPIA –Sustainable Agriculture & Edible Landscape Consultants to provide consultancy services in Sustainable Agriculture Practices, Community and Educational Garden Development, Edible Landscapes and Agriculture Education Program Development. Through this enterprise, I worked with the NGO GreenRock as the Director of the Healthy Harvest Community Gardening Initiative – a project geared towards the development of community gardens throughout the island to create awareness and to assist in the education of local food production. I have additionally worked as an Instructor for the Government Department of Corrections’ Vocational Education Program, “Basic Agriculture'' at The Prison Farm Facility, as well as The Government Department of Workforce Development (DWD) supported program, “Certificate in Basic Horticulture” at the Bermuda College. I am in continued collaboration with the DWD as a consultant for the “Landscape Gardener Certification Program''. I have obtained a Level 3 Certification in accordance with the Bermuda National Occupational Certification Standard, recognised by the aforementioned Government Department. Recently I worked with the NGO Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation developing and instructing the Outdoor Play, Gardening and Environmental Arts Programs for children aged 18 months - 12 years of age. Currently I’m employed at WindReach Bermuda, as The Environmental Education Coordinator where I am responsible for developing the Therapeutic Horticulture Program Activities and for managing the gardens and grounds of the 4 acre estate. WindReach Bermuda is a NGO created to enrich the lives of individuals with special needs.
