To quantify the lost work potential in wingtip vortices generated behind the wings as the aircraft flies through the air. Wingtip vortices cause lift induced drag that equals 35% of the total drag during the course of a flight. The vortex role-up was studied and available work was quantified in an effort to increase efficiency of the aircraft by reducing lift induced drag.
