Tldr : Opened a street art gallery in Toronto, Covid closed it, learnt stuff.My tenure as the proprietor of a Toronto-based gallery spanned over eighteen months, during which I curated a diverse array of exhibitions showcasing street art from across the globe. Situated in a locale devoid of such representation, our gallery stood as a pioneering establishment in the city's cultural landscape.The genesis of our gallery began with the transformation of a derelict restaurant space, meticulously renovated to serve as a sophisticated platform for artistic expression. Through a collaborative effort with trusted associates, we reimagined the venue, infusing it with a contemporary aesthetic while preserving its authenticity.In addition to our commitment to aesthetic excellence, our exhibitions were characterized by their captivating canvases, each meticulously selected to provoke thought and evoke emotion.Behind the scenes, I assumed multifaceted responsibilities encompassing financial management, administrative oversight, and comprehensive marketing strategies. From the inception of promotional campaigns to the execution of digital and print materials, I orchestrated all facets of brand development and outreach initiatives.Regrettably, the gallery's operations were forced to cease due to the unforeseen challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the setback, the experience of navigating such adversity further reinforced my resilience and adaptability in the face of uncertainty.My tenure as a gallery proprietor not only afforded me invaluable insights into the intricacies of artistic curation and event management but also served as a crucible for honing my skills as a strategic thinker and leader.
