The company is providing and producing cryogenic coolers for the markets in civil-, aviation- andspace applications. My responsibility was leading the production department (+/- 20 FTE’s) together with the manufacturing engineering department (6 FTE’s) who gave technical support to the production area. The target was to increase production from 7 M€ to 12M€ with limited growth in manpower. My responsibility was leading the production department (+/- 20 FTE’s) together with the manufacturing engineering department (6 FTE’s) who gave technical support to the production area. The target was to increase production from 7 M€ to 12M€ with limited growth in manpower. Thanks to commitment and dedication of the team, in 2012, the production grew from 700 to 1000 cooler a year. Which was the highest amount ever reached till then. In line with LEAN manufacturing, the organization profited by my decision to divide the production department in 3 teams headed by 1 team leader each. This gave more responsibility to the teams who became more self-sustaining. By transforming the production department from conventional- to LEAN manufacturing and by reshuffling the existing production process-flows higher efficiency rate has been achieved. 5S practices and working philosophy has been implemented in dedicated teams. In the manufacturing engineering department engineers were aligned to support production department in case of problems and escalations. Encouraged and empowered the team to initiate reliability-, quality- and productivity improvement projects within the production department. Convinced the MT to replace the E-Beam Laser welding machine to solve the biggest bottle-neck in the production process.Overall responsible for people management, target settings, appraisals, hiring and when necessary lay-offs Show less
