🔍 Project Overview:We aimed to predict future electricity prices using data from the past three and a half years, including electricity prices, demand, generation, and weather conditions. We tackled the project through extensive data cleaning, feature engineering, and model evaluation.🔧 Key Techniques:Feature Engineering: Created lag and rolling features to capture past trends and smooth out fluctuations.Feature Selection: Used LASSO regression to select the most important features, resulting in 36 key features.Model Development: Evaluated five models—Informer, XGBoost, SARIMA, GRU, and Random Forest Regression. XGBoost emerged as the top performer with the lowest RMSE of 1.438.📊 Challenges:Managing missing data and synchronizing features.Balancing feature importance to enhance predictive accuracy.🌟 Results:XGBoost proved to be the most effective model for forecasting electricity prices, showcasing impressive accuracy and robustness.
