Omni is a philanthropic professional with over 12 years of experience in grassroots organizing, resource mobilization, and strategic planning. They are currently serving as the inaugural Director of CARE (Community Advocacy, Research, and Education) at the Pride Foundation, a regional LGBTQ+ community foundation serving Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Prior to this, they worked as the inaugural Director of Encuentro at the Latino Commission on AIDS, working across all sixteen Southern states and especially the Deep South. Omni has worked on the ground in over 25 US states, as well as federally and internationally, to advance social justice and health equity for marginalized communities (particularly BIPOC, gender-diverse, limited-English, and rural communities). Omni is a native Spanish speaker and since 2016, they have provided gender-inclusive Spanish interpretation/translation and language justice-capacity building to clients globally. Omni's academic training is in Cultural Anthropology where they studied ecological sanctuary, climate migration, and tourism. Their professional career has particularly centered work settings in education, philanthropy, and public health. Omni has driven over $10 million in funding into community projects through donor engagement, grantmaking portfolio management, participatory grantmaking opportunities, and successful municipal budget campaigns, among other avenues. As a nonbinary trans person living with HIV and born to uninsured undocumented farmworkers in a rural American town without a hospital, Omni leverages their roots, lived experience, and professional projects to nourish a healthier future for communities across the Americas and beyond.
