My responsibility was to understand our business requirements across all our Zones world wide and put forward a strategic plan which did not only meet their business needs, but will also prepared them for the future and any upcoming initiatives and challenges.A few highlights of my accomplishments at ABInBev:• Modernization of Global Infrastructure Service Delivery: Drove efficiencies and OPEX savings by leveraging the programmability of our network & cloud resources for automation.• Multiyear Strategic Plan & Architecture: My primary responsibility is to develop, maintain and execute on a rolling 3-year plan for the Global Network and Telecom Enterprise Architecture at ABI.• Global Corporate Office Standardization with OneABI Wifi 2.0 and SD-WAN: ABInBev has approximately 1800 sites – distributed across 6 different zones across the world. Challenge was to design a common set of designs that could be applied across all site types and locations.• Network & Telecom Reorganization: The siloed “Architecture”, “Delivery” and “Operations” organization was very ineffective and caused a lot of friction for all areas. I proposed and implemented a pilot organization to streamline processes, improving and eliminating hand-offs and creating a united team.• Cloud Landing Zone Network Architecture: To support the DC to Cloud (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) migration, my responsibility as the lead global architect was to design the network architecture for the landing zone and future network state.

When I started at Zynga as the Network Architect, I took over both Corporate and Production network teams - or what was left of it. Once I had a strong core team rebuilt, I led the team through an intense year of standardization, consolidation, clean-up work and documentation - while keeping the lights on and performing continuous improvement and change requests. Our Year-over-Year network outage KPI dropped by over 90% and we successively had much time to spend on renewing and modernizing the networks at Zynga - building self-healing networks and templates that would allow us to grow and adapt our networks quickly aligning to the business objectives of Zynga - at the time going through multiple mergers and acquisitions per year. My team and I were also responsible for the smooth transition out of our private physical data centers and to a public Cloud provider (AWS), along with a zero-downtime inter-facility migration of all the IT systems.

During my time at Verizon Wireless, I was lucky enough to work with the bright minds that were responsible for all the Intellectual Property and innovation that is powering the Verizon Wireless networks - serving over 100 Million users and devices at the time! I was part of the research and development department and we were investigating in technologies like Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Internet of Things (IoT) for Smart Cities, Business to Business (B2B) as well as Business to Consumer (B2C) products and services.I was leading the SDN/SD-WAN evaluation efforts, where I needed to compare and evaluate dozens of SDN hardware and software vendors to downselect for our white box SDN/NFV solution, including the entire Orchestration and Virtualization backend. I also worked on the development of a service dubbed "Secure Cloud Interconnect", which would allow for multiple public and private cloud providers to be interconnected as a service for our customers.

I really got into networking when I joined EDS where I earned my spurs and got to know the tricks of the trade - building some of the first MPLS networks in the world with Cisco for our customers moving off of Frame Relay and ATM, with the largest customer being the network of "SwissAir" and their metropolitan area network at and around Zurich Airport.After 7 years at EDS I was selected for the Top Gun program, for which a handful engineers were transferred to Silicon Valley to become architects by researching a completely new but domain relevant technology. The challenge was to present after only 3 months of research and development to our CxO level in person in Plano, TX - elaborating what the technology was about and what the recommendation was for EDS's involvement in said technology. This was in 2007 and the technology assigned to me was IPv6.
