As Special Assistant to the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, my responsibilities cut across assisting the commissioner in planning, development and management, of Lagos state energy resources, research, economic analysis and project management. Major Responsibilities;  Supervision and monitoring of Lagos State power and gas projects, and delivering timely reports concerning progress of various projects.  Collaborating with contractors and various stakeholders both within the state and federal government to develop strategies and procedures for optimal delivery of projects.  Developing and maintaining a database for contractors and suppliers in the ministry and ensuring due process is adhered-to in all contract transactions.  Spear heading the research team of the ministry and closely working with international energy professionals and academics to strengthen policy analysis and adaption.  Developing regulatory framework for all energy activities under the control Lagos state government with the ultimate goal of reducing climate change.  Liaison with both Federal and State Ministries other relevant parastatals to ensure energy and environmental taxes are duly paid. Main responsibility included preparation of monthly financial statements and audit reports, account reconciliations and monitoring general ledger transactions.  Worked in collaboration with the Financial Controller to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information in support of overall business objectives.  Maintained accuracy of operations and financial transactions and guided against fraudulent and questionable transactions.  Managed company’s cash book and domiciliary accounts and took responsibility of banking and financial relations  Also served as the intermediary between company and suppliers and took part in preparation and negotiation of projects and contracts  Key achievement was saving expenses through identification of inaccurate and unnecessary supplier payments and contributing towards automation of account reconciliation process.

Main responsibility was ensuring efficient and effective tax collection for Lagos State Government in accordance to the prevailing tax legislation.  Provided guidelines and advises on taxation to both corporate and individual clients.  Liaised with Federal, State and Local Government agencies to develop, access and implement policies related to tax payers.  Examined corporate and individual financial accounts and related documents to determine tax due and raise appropriate assessment.  Performed Tax audit and investigated cases through interviews, research and visits.  Managed tax records and reports and maintained updated database.  Delivered weekly and monthly tax reports to senior inspectors and also produced tax reports and analysis on demand  Key achievement was contributing towards developing a database system for tax collection in Lagos State and also took active role in both archiving and updating of the system.
