In addition, I am involved in patent procurement in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology arts. My technical areas of expertise include pharmaceutical formulations, medical devices, antibody-based anti-cancer drugs, mass spectrometry, proteomics, and chromatography-based protein separation.

My practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology and mechanical arts. I also conduct non-infringement, due diligence and patent landscape analyses, as well as legal opinions. I assisted in patent analyses, which included performing searches for relevant art, as well as reviewing patents, publications, and other relevant literature for invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom to operate analyses. I also drafed claim charts, as well as invalidity and non-infringement opinions.

I worked in a mass spectrometry/proteomics lab where we developed novel methods to improve the identification of SUMOylated proteins and their SUMOylation sites in complex mixtures. This involved SUMO- and substrate-specific immunoprecipitation experiments, followed by high performance mass spectrometric analysis.

I worked in a laboratory interested in expression and purification of the two domains (catalytic and cell wall recognition domains) of ply G lysin, an enzyme which has been shown to kill the bacterium that causes anthrax poisoning by breaking down its cell wall.
