Team Lead And Local Migration ExpertSeefar Enterprise Jan 2018 - Aug 2019Www.Seefar.OrgProject management and coordination support on irregular migration, modern slavery and human-trafficking in Nigeria.Strategic Communication of risks of modern slavery and domestic servitude to vulnerable people in the Lagos Island Region, via one on one consultations, counselling and outreaches to difficult to reach people.ResearchI serve as Team Lead covering Lagos Island working with Local Migration Experts, Remote Migration Experts, Education Outreach Officers and more engaging diverse people groups, strategic influencers and decision makers as we work to end modern slavery and domestic servitude in Nigeria. The issue of modern slavery of Nigerians in the UK is not deeply researched. There is thus a deficit in understanding the issue and preventing Nigerians from being enslaved in the UK. Many of the victims trafficked from Nigeria, mostly young female, are sent to a Nigerian family, an “auntie” and exploited as domestic servants. They are forced to work long hours taking care of the children and house chores. At the same time, not paid, allowed to go to school or socialise outside of the house. This leaves them completely isolated with no contact with their family back in Nigeria. It is also common for these young girls to be physically and sexually abused or sexually exploited when they grow older.www.seefar.orgSeefar's Vision is for a world in which vulnerable people have more opportunities to advance themselves. The purpose of our social enterprise is to work with those people to build a better future. We focus on problems and timeframes that are difficult but tractable; tractable because we can see possibilities to transform them; and transformational in measurably improving people’s lives. We walk these paths by nimbly combining rigorous learning and flexible sourcing of external funds. We measure our performance by our impact on beneficiary communities and the way in which our services change the lives of individual women, men and children. -
