Research Assistant
CurrentI joined the Bailey Lab in the summer of 2024 as an undergraduate researcher interested in the metagenomics aspect of the laboratory. As of current, I have collected data with the aim of optimizing selective genome amplification of DNA from Plasmodium vivax and C. diff samples for sequencing through Oxford Nanopore Technologies. The ultimate goal is to develop a protocol allowing for accessible genome analysis of clinical samples in areas affected by malaria and C. diff. Techniques in analysis I have learned from the lab include use of Qubit and qPCR assays, basecalling, demultiplexing, variant calling, and genome mapping.
