Regulatory DirectorSan Francisco Bay Conservation And Development Commission (Bcdc) Dec 2010 - Dec 2021San Francisco, California, UsI served as BCDC's Regulatory Director, overseeing the five regulatory programs that processed hundreds of projects every year in and around the San Francisco Bay. These projects included design review and permitting of all major shoreline development, maritime, transportation, and wetland restoration projects; engineering review of coastal structures; management of dredged sediment; and enforcement along hundreds of miles of Bay shoreline. During this 11 year period, BCDC processed more than 1,400 permit applications representing over $4 billion of development. -

In 2009, I helped envision and then created and oversaw BCDC's Rising Tides International Design Competition, an event that prompted teams from 18 nations to submit 130 design ideas that responded to sea level rise in San Francisco Bay. Between 2009 and 2011, I spoke publicly around the nation about the need for climate change adaption, including two separate trips to speak with White House staff.
