About Onn Sein Kon
Kon Onn Sein is the Managing Director of the Foundation for Community Studies and Development (YKPM), specializing in poverty alleviation and community development. With a focus on the Orang Asli and urban poor communities, he has worked extensively at grassroots and policy advocacy levels since 1992. In 2015, he pioneered a groundbreaking community enterprise in natural farming and Orang Asli empowerment, addressing inequality and climate change challenges.Kon is a board representative of the ASIAN Solidarity Economy Council (ASEC) and the Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of Social Solidarity Economy (RIPESS). He advocates for placing "People" and "Planet" at the core of business practices. He is also a founding member of the CSO-SDG Alliance, a civil society partnership with the Economic Planning Unit, dedicated to achieving Sustainable development goals. He is also treasurer of the society for the Promotion of SDG, which acts as the secretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia on SDGs. He holds a law degree and a Master's degree in Social Development from Britain. He has contributed to the publication "Making SDGs Matter: Leaving No One Behind" (2021) by ISIS-KAS. Additionally, he has presented proposals to the National Economic Consultative Council II (MAPEN 2) in 2000
