Pioneered R&D capability development in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) to support New Initiatives and the growth of existing categories in Beauty & Personal Care:• General Landscape Assessment to understand: market dynamics, consumer H&P, general consumer needs, key players in the region, and the ABC of winning in Africa.• Local Products Research and deep Consumer Insights which helped to design and qualify optimal Beauty and Personal Care products for SSA. Established expert panels and trained research agencies to enable fast and reliable research data. • Developed demos for credentialing and partnered with Marketing to develop go-to-market strategies - helped to achieve target trials and conversions.• Set up a QC lab (instruments/methods set up and Analysts trained) at a CM in Nigeria. This enabled GMP manufacture of Personal Care products.• Established partnerships with Government agencies to develop/modify necessary regulatory guidelines - facilitated approval of new products.• Partnerships with Local Universities and the Royal Society of Chemistry to organize the first Pan Africa Chemistry Network (PACN) in Nigeria (July 2012) and again in July 2013. This resulted in action plans on issues relating to Hygiene, Health, Environment, and Regulatory Harmonization. Analytical Centers of Excellence were also established at two universities to enhance research and talent development. Eight student interns trained to support R&D work at P&G over a period of 2 years.• Launched Safeguard Antibacterial Soap across SSA – the first Beauty Care product introduced by P&G in the region. Subsequently launched Camay megabrand – a very appealing skin care line for the SSA consumer - meeting and exceeding her needs for personal cleansing, fragrance, and moisturization.• Identified and trained local raw material suppliers to improve their systems and become competitive with external suppliers: a cost savings initiate while improving local economy and quality of life.

Developed a fast method for determination of effective charge on Carbon coated with polyDADMAC as well as the HP-RSSC-BT procedure for testing PuR filter performance, mechanistic understanding, and filter design optimization. Project Leader Health Care: Analytical development of Thermal Wraps for Body Pain. Performed electrochemical tests and used the data to guide product optimization - reduced the level of raw material in a wrap by over 30% without compromise on performance – which led to over 20% Cost Savings. Worked with the Engineering Team at the plant to troubleshoot OOS cases. Temperature fluctuations and pin hole leaks were detected and corrected - resulted in a more reliable wrap production. Evaluated external suppliers and selected optimal leak test method which was then deployed in the plant - helped with effective control of defects during packaging.Designed a glass cell and used it to differentiate ThermaCare product from competition in terms of mechanism of action. This enabled approval of Freedom-to-Practice followed by successful product launch.Talent Development: Training and mentoring of Research Associates plus Undergraduate and Graduate Talent Recruiting - helped to grow capacity for the company.

Certified Reference Standards and developed Summary Reports for Regulatory approvals.Some unique Chromatographic techniques were developed to enable resolution of some challenging analyses: these included the use of HPLC-RI for absolute purity determination for standards without UV chromophore, Single Pump Column-Switching-Trace-Enrichment technique for low level impurity determination, and Pseudo Normal Phase HPLC-RI with multiple charge formation for separation of small polar compounds.
