Paul Patrick Onyango QualificationPaul Patrick Onyango has a BSc from Lower Saxony-Suderburg, Germany; in Civil and Hydraulics Engineering. He is a senior Technical Advisor within the German Development Cooperation in Kenya, under the GIZ Water Sector Reform Programme , based at the Ministry of Water and Irrigation in Nairobi. He is a member of the German Association for water, waste water and waste (DWA). He has over 20 years working experience with GIZ in Kenya and East Africa working in different capacities. He was the Project Manager for the EU-GIZ-SIDA EcoSan Promotion Project, which piloted the EcoSan under the Ministry of Water and Irrigation from 2007-2010. He currently the Component Manager for Policy and Sector Reforms under the GIZ Water sector Reform Programme.ExperiencePaul Patrick Onyango has over 20 years experience work with German Development Cooperation covering water supply (urban and rural) , waste water management, faecal sludge management, water sector policy, legal framework and sector reforms. He has successfully managed the project which piloted EcoSan in Kenya, implemented integrated rural development projects in Lamu and Tana River Counties and Emergency Road and Dykes Rehabilitation projects in Southern Sudan. He has been in the secretariat of the MWI which drafted and developed the current Water Act 2016 of Kenya , which is become national water law. From 2011 he initiated the piloting of Ecosan technologies in urban low income areas with Water Services Trust Fund with the support of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation , KfW Bank of Germany and GIZ. He is also currently involved in the devolution of water and sanitation to the County governments, assisting mainly in policy and legal framework.
