Onyedika Chuke is an artist, advisor, and gallerist in New York City.He is the founding director of Storage, an artist-run gallery and advisory offering collection management, strategy, and representation of artists.Chuke founded the gallery after 15 years in the art sales industry. Utilizing knowledge as a practicing artist and educator of 20 years to bring a bespoke experience to clients. Storage is a unique platform that creates equity, community, and context for today's avant-garde artists.He studied Sculpture and Theory at The Cooper Union and has participated in numerous fellowships and residencies, including The Drawing Center (2016-18), Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2017) and The American Academy in Rome (2015).His participation in the commercial art world began in 2007 as a freshman at Cooper Union School of Art and sales manager at Susan Sheehan Gallery.In 2020, following his participation in various protests for equality, Chuke was motivated to create Storage as an artistic community based on mutual aid and progress. It's a gallery in form of a protest, aiming to put the artists first, provide mentorship programs, and build equity in marginalized communities.Storage has since brought artists such as Rick Lowe to art world prominence by managing his career, making strategic sales & brand placement. Lowe is now represented by Gagosian Gallery.Storage, the gallery Chuke founded in his basement art studio in Chinatown in 2020 is now located in a 2,500sqft space at 52 Walker Street in Tribeca.
