Software Engineer
Software developer at NetSuite, a division of Oracle. NetSuite is a business suite | ERP in the cloud. I develop within a full-stack scrum team an analytics module. Technical stack:- Backend with Java 11, Java 17, Kotlin and SQL- Frontend with Typescript, a react-like framework and highcharts- OpenSearch | ElasticSearch logs and dashboardsResponsible for designing and developing software, and writing automated tests. I developed myself professionally with the Oracle Certified Professional Java certificate, Oracle trainings (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Analytics Cloud) and reading technical books (with full-stack and data intensive focus).
Information Manager / Clinical Informatician
A two-year post-master program (PDEng) in combination with the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). 80% of the time was dedicated to work in the IT department of the hospital. My role included being a designer and developer of an intranet decision-support application (in C#, ASP.Net, EF Core and SQL Server), business-IT alignment and project management. The university courses ranged a lot of practical topics in the field of clinical informatics: designing, communication skills, system thinking, IT standards, Lean, PRINCE2, enterprise architecture (and much more).
Internship Bioinformatics
In the project I used R and SQL to extract pathogenic and neutral variants from public databases. The variants were filtered and transformed from the VCF format into protein sequence variants. Predictive parameters, by searching the literature, were found to separate the two variant classes. The models were trained by the machine learning algorithms Random Forest, XGBoost and Logistic Regression. Validations and benchmarks led me to compare the predictor to already existing predictors.Besides my own project, I helped the group in a predictor challenge that benchmarks machine learning models. This work led to a publication in Human Mutation.
C# Software Developer
In a Scrum team we developed an IT-spatial application in C# .Net. Geographical information was stored in an Oracle database. The application could receive and send information via XML (parsers). The application contained multiple modules and many law-obliged business rules. We developed and maintained as a team all aspects of the application (mainly back-end, but also the user interface and SQL scripts). Other techniques used daily: Unit Testing, SoapUI, Team Foundation Server, Git, PL/SQL queries and the Geographical Information System (GIS) program FME.
Traineeship Software Developer
In a small group we were trained to become software developers. During a short but intensive education period (~2 months) we learned to develop object-oriented applications in C# and .Net framework in Visual Studio. In addition, we learned web development skills (JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3) and obtained the Microsoft certificate MCSD 70-483 programming in C#. The last part of the training was focused on Scrum for which I also passed the PSM-1 exam.
Research Internship In Hiv
Research internship in the Kirby Institute, Sydney Australia. This internship was self-organized and funded by three acquired student grants. In this internship I had to critically read into the topic and to design and conduct the experiments, while taking technical limitations in consideration. The research led to a paper published in Traffic.
Research Internship In Wnt Pathway
Research internship as part of my master education. I worked in the UMC Utrecht, Department of Cell Biology in the group of Madelon Maurice. As an intern I got my own topic and worked independently and together with my supervisors to design and conduct experiments. Novel and interesting characteristics of a cancer mechanism was found by applying an open-minded attitude. The research led to a publication in EMBO Journal.
