-Responsible for instruction in various swim techniques, swim strokes, and water safety rules to students of varying swimming abilities-Assessing the progress of students and modifying lessons as necessary to customize lessons to the individual-Implement goals for swimmers to strive towards each swim session-Plan swimming lessons that take into account students’ abilities and progressive development-Identify incorrect swimming techniques and modify or correct students accordingly

-Stay abreast of current aquatic safety and swim lesson techniques to assist in the assessment of incoming staff selection.- Develop systems which help to strengthen communication among employees, members, and participants at both facilities-Implement and maintain systems for certification and training tracking for all aquatic personnel.-Hire and onboard all part-time aquatic staff -Oversee private lesson scheduling to ensure timely response to lesson requests while building effective, authentic relationships with students and parents, helping them connect with each other and the YMCA.-Review and approve payroll for private lesson instructors.-Manage aquatic record keeping for lesson enrollments.-Provide direct, on deck, guard support as necessary at each facility.-Support Safety Division of the Aquatic Department by coordinating with all association staff and safety instructors for CPR and First Aid through administrative and clerical support and working closely with Human Resource Department to ensure all employees comply with training requirements.-Other duties as assigned.

-Plan and develop lessons and activities for ESL classes-Assist in the planning and implementation of Interactive Literacy Activities (Parent/Childtime) as needed.-Provide instruction for Family Literacy (morning) and Adult (afternoon) ESL classes,including content specific (workplace, Citizenship, Family Literacy) lessons.-Help to coordinate field trips, special events and volunteer opportunities for students.-Assist with a once-a-month evening trip to the library.-Participate in relevant professional development training.-Provide support for after school tutoring programs in collaboration with otherorganizations.-Collaborate with other AmeriCorps members to create and implement literacy outreach andactivities for children (birth-3rd grade) and families.

-Supervising other Lifeguards at Nelson Center-Teaching swim lessons-Enforcing pool rules (i.e. no diving, running, horseplay etc.)-Customer Service (complaints, praise etc.)-Responding to emergencies quickly and efficiently-Activating E.A.P (Emergency Action Plan)-Providing First Aid and CPR as needed-Counting the money box each night at Eisenhower Pool-Taking money for lap swim and public swim at Eisenhower Pool-Writing receipts for lap swim, public swim, 10 day passes, and birthday parties at Eisenhower Pool-Depositing checks into the safe at Eisenhower Pool-Signing up people for swim lessons at Eisenhower Pool-creating weekly lifeguard schedule-supervising swim lessons
