Placement: Climate and Sustainability Branch, California Department of Insurance

- Supported the COVID-19 workstream and helped with organizing a convening of experts to discuss policy recommendations for the state of California- Contributed to the organization of expert Roundtables for California's 5th Climate Change Assessment

- Working on climate insurance policy including extreme heat, urban tree canopy, and flooding - Analyzing bills for their fiscal and financial impacts on the Department- Staffing a Department-sponsored bill which includes communicating with supporters of the bill through the legislative process- Drafting talking points and backgrounders for Commissioner Lara- Developing an urban forest insurance concept modeled after coral reef insurance products in Mexico and Hawaii- Organized a convening of urban forest management stakeholders and created summary document of the event- Producing Department podcast

- Taught Introductory Biology to about non-science undergraduate students by relating Biology principles to their everyday lives

- Facilitated two weekly undergraduate Chemistry labs

- Worked with the Center for Student Academic Support.- Held 30-minute meetings with over 20 students each week, mostly college freshmen- Advised students on study habits, time management, test-taking, and other necessary college skills.

- Taught Chemistry lab for non-science undergraduate students- Instructed the second-semester Biology lab for Biology majors

- Developed and presented a workshop on safety in the workplace.- Assisted the HR director in the hiring of new employees

- Graded Physics lab quizzes and exams.- Assisted with setting up Physics labs for non-science undergraduate students.
