For the last 15 years I have held several management positions focusing on education, skills, and industry- education collaborations. During this time I have published a number of national sectoral skills reports that examine emerging skills for the future workplace as well as investigating best practices for industry and education providers collaborating in work- based learning partnerships. These research reports have been extensively used by industry and education providers in the design and review of education/training programmes and preparing for the future workplace. I have presented as key note speaker at numerous conferences throughout Europe on the theme of industry-education collaborations and also on the topic of recognising and accrediting learning acquired in the workplace. I also participated in a number of EU skills and work-based learning projects and initiatives. In recent years, I have provided support to Irish and European education providers in developing bespoke work-based learning programmes. These programmes employ an innovative and contemporary approach to design, delivery and assessment. I have also designed and delivered bespoke change management programs for senior leaders from various organisations seeking improvements in business practices and policies.I successfully completed my Doctorate in Business Administration in 2017 with Northumbria University. This four year research study examined how Work-based Learning partnerships between education providers and private employers can be enhanced by a deeper understanding of organisational culture and change management. The findings provide practical recommendations for industry and education providers to consider when collaborating. The findings also provide a framework to support organisations undergoing change.I have delivered workshops to both industry and education audiences on the future of work and implications on skills. I have also delivered masterclasses to colleges/universities seeking to learn more about the development, delivery, assessment and coordination of apprenticeship programmes. I have presented at numerous European Union (2024), OECD (2024) and MIT (2023) conferences on skills, future of work and innovative education initiatives to address future skills.Since 2019 I have been employed with Ireland’s leading employer representative body - Ibec as the National Programme Manager of the hugely successful Apprenticeship in Retail Supervision delivered throughout Ireland and more recently promoted to the position as Head of Retail Ireland Skillnet.
