WROTE LABVIEW HOST/FPGA CODE FOR LASER HARDWARE FIX PREVENTING UNINTENDED LASER EMISSION• Addressed design flaw in photocoagulator system laser shutdown mechanism by writing FPGA state machine code that safely zeroes laser current flow prior to disabling laser current feedback loop, according to requested electrical engineering specification, fixing a longstanding safety risk.• Regenerated this methodology in the host code for newer application that required the same safe shutdown prior to hardware control loop reactivation to maintain quick system restart capability, and electrically validated the control loop oscilloscope waveforms.WROTE LABVIEW CODE TO DOWNLOAD TWO-MODE LASER FIRING AND SAFETY TEST SEQUENCE TO FPGA• Addressed safety requirement for real-time laser energy monitoring during advanced landmark pattern photocoagulator treatment by jointly developing redesigned laser spot firing sequence (I generated and debugged the HOST-to-FPGA download code). DEVELOPED IMAGE SENSOR BURN-IN MONITORING SYSTEM• Overcame complex hi-rel satellite sensor burn-in problem that ordinarily requires labor intensive manual measurements and hard-to-interpret instrument data. Implemented high reliability signal connection design and programmed data acquisition instrument in conjunction with Excel macros to present all results in easy-to-read pass/fail format, reducing measurement labor by factor of five or more for both wiring debug and production test and virtually eliminating operator error.DEVELOPED AUTOMATED IMAGE SENSOR PHOTODIODE QUANTUM EFFICIENCY (QE) TEST STATION (IN LABVIEW)• Addressed poor throughput and instrument control problems in key test station for which software patches were not effective. Initiated new approach using LabVIEW platform to design and validate new test program with no new hardware. Added software modules to graphically evaluate repeatability and accuracy while eliminating test software execution halts, increasing speed by 60% with result variation less than 2%.IMPLEMENTED IMAGE SENSOR PHOTODIODE QE TEST SYSTEM OPTICS AND DATA ANALYSIS• Addressed time-consuming manual photoresponse test for which automated light source wavelength control was not available. Managed development of new automated QE test station with wide spectral range, combining instrument control software written by C programmer with Excel data form that performed all calculations and curve plotting.• Identified and fixed inconsistent preliminary result problem due to optical path incompatibility. Achieved test station accuracy within 3-4 % with test time decreased by factor of 5 or more.

WROTE ELECTRO-OPTICAL (E-O) TEST PROCEDURES FOR HIGH RELIABILITY SENSORS• Previous methodology for hi-rel satellite sensor test lacked detailed documentation of algorithms used to code the test software. Wrote procedural documentation that exactly spelled out how the methodology and mathematical calculations addressed customer requirements for key sensor tests using cryogenic techniques, including electron conversion gain and spectral photoresponse efficiency.• Wrote clearly written operator instructions that maintained consistency with test methodology and calculations, greatly reducing operator error and facilitating QA oversight.• Developed usage of optical bench components used for military reconnaissance sensor EO testing, such as shutters, spectral filter wheels, and knife-edge MTF support hardware. Adapted vendor’s DSP software code for custom drive signals and sensor acquisition timing.
