In 2001, Ericsson Ireland established a business consulting practice to support internal stakeholders in the development of business plans and value propositions to justify client investment in telecom hardware.I was recruited as Ericsson's first Principal Business Consultant by Ericsson Ireland. I worked initially in the UK and Ireland before moving to South Africa to build a business consulting practice in Sub-Saharan Africa. I worked with prospective and existing Ericsson clients to support them in a variety of consulting assignments including product portfolio definition and I supported two consortia through the tender development process for a fixed line telecom license application.My key achievements included: Building the Business Consulting practice for Ericsson Southern Africa from scratch.Co-developing the business plan included in the license applications for Eskom and Transnet in the formation of South Africa's second national telecom operator Neotel. -

As one of four founders, I led the management team through concept development and fundraising. As with any startup, my role encompassed a range of duties; from research, strategy development, business case development, business development and investor relations. Glopix required additional funding to bring the product to market and our fundraising efforts were unsuccessful against the background of the global dot-com correction. Highlights:• Negotiated and secured £250,000 seed investment. • Negotiated contracts with a range of specialist photography libraries.

The company was bootstrapped and grew organically and, in addition to my core business development role, I also worked across a broad range of functions in the company including product development and marketing.IrishJobs was sold to private investors and went on to become the hugely successful Saon Group.
