During my worked time at KPMG, I mainly took part in the following audit engagements:- Telenet (Belgium's largest Telecom provider, daughter company of Liberty Global) – USGAAP and IFRS o Supervised the review of the Treasury process: loans, debts, derivatives, cash and banks held at financial institutions o Supervised the review of internal controls over financial reporting (in line with Sarbanes-Oxley Act 404) - De Cronos Groep (holding with 500+ entities of which most are IT consultancies) – Belgian GAAP o At this engagement, each entity needed to be audited separately. In this way, I was able to gain much insight in the financial statements of an entity. o Determining materiality, performing substantive and non-substantive audit procedures, performing analytical procedures o Identified and communicated accounting, finance and auditing issues to executives, seniors and finance managers. o Made a template in order to improve the efficiency and consistency of the audited entities- Soft skills gained: o Delegation of tasks o Communicating effectively with finance executives o Supervision of projects o Supervised junior auditors and upskilled them in testwork in order for them to be able to perform audit procedures independently.- Technical skills gained: o Microsoft Excel – advanced o Financial instruments o Financial statement reporting & analysis o Internal audit o IFRS standards: IFRS 2, IFRS 9, IFRS 16 and others.
