During my time working Africa intelligence sharing issues, I led a policy team in daily activities designed to increase intelligence sharing authorities between the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and African countries.Our task was to enhance strategic relationships to promote U.S. interests and development of African defense capabilities. I led policy design and implementation and coordinated efforts with U.S. Embassy leadership, national agencies and inter-agency policy makers in Washington.As a Senior Policy Adviser, my team's efforts routinely drove policy discussions at the national level and resulted in numerous changes in defense engagement priorities and enhanced intelligence sharing authorities in Africa and the Middle East in the areas of counter-terrorism, smuggling, threat finance, piracy, and organized criminal activities.

I worked on projects associated with increasing international military cooperation and defense capacity with numerous countries in Central and South America and the Caribbean. These projects focused on developing a common operational picture and strategic framework to counter illicit activities including narco-terrorism, smuggling, and piracy.Shortly after the 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti, I deployed with a Joint Task Force with the mission to distribute humanitarian aid and supplies, provide security, and accelerate recovery efforts.Working closely with the Canadian and Colombian forces, I facilitated increased multinational coordination and cooperation in humanitarian efforts.While deployed to Costa Rica in 2009 in support of a joint and international humanitarian relief mission, I coordinated and tracked air lift of supplies to remote areas to assist mudslide victims, working closely with civil relief agencies and government officials to synchronize efforts with U.S. forces.

While in charge of Damage Control, I led a team of 10 technical experts in daily ship maintenance and repair activity and training. I also participated in cross-functional planning teams to schedule long term repair and training activities, ship navigation and handling, and supervision of Surface Warfare and Undersea Warfare activities.
