I started at GHD as a Senior Technical Officer with role responsibilities for the technical design and documentation of projects, review and mentoring more junior members of the team and building client relationships. With this role I also had the title of Job Manager, which was to oversee projects as a whole, primarily multi-discipline projects to ensure they are delivered on budget and on time. This role has developed over six years to Principal Technical Officer and Lead Electrical over the electrical section of the building services group with responsibilities to build and maintain the electrical group along with the technical design review and documentation of electrical projects. With this role I was also made a Project Director overseeing numerous projects at one time, focusing on the client relationships, contractual and commercial aspects of the projects.At the end of my tenure at GHD I held an acting position of Service Group Manager with the responsibility of managing the Building Services Group. The disciplines within the group were electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, security and asset management. This role was during the end of financial year and included undertaking people management, remuneration reviews, financial reporting, and debtor management.

I was employed at ETC as a Project Engineer to provide designs, and document commercial building projects being mentored by more senior staff of the company.

I was employed at Pederson Read to expand my base knowledge of electrical contracting to engineering and design.Because Pederson Read was a small company I was given some exposure to all the elements of design engineering, giving a good grounding of the industry.

At OEC I completed an electrical apprenticeship and continued working as an electrician. The main focus of my time at OEC was in the commercial sector of the industry with some limited time in the domestic and industrial areas. At my time at OEC during my apprenticeship and as an electrician I was installing and maintaining low voltage systems, communication systems, fire detection, traffic systems and security installations.
