Over the 7 week break between semesters. I shadowed the Senior Project Safety Manager for Southern CA. We did frequent job walks, talked with the crews, and observed working habits. I rewrote their JHAs for Ballasted Track. I spent a week rewriting the old one to make it more inclusive and easier for the foremen to follow. After finalizing that one with my boss I used that format and made 2 more JHAs for Demolition of track and Welding Track.

Gallatin Missouri

I started as a labor hand on the landscape crew. After 3-4 weeks they downsized from 30 employees to 6. I promoted to supervisor for a crew. For the rest of the summer, unless asked to help on temporary projects, I was in charge of watering all the exotic trees that had been planted around the lodge and in the orchard during a couple month long dry spell. Despite having to water trees by hand for a couple months out of close to 200 trees I maintained we only lost 2 that summer. When I wasn't watering I maintained the lawns around the lodge, among the cabins and around the two man made lakes on the property. In the event that is was too wet to work outside I assisted with equipment maintenance and built grow tables in the green house. During my time there I pointed out and helped fix several safety hazards.
