Orion is the founder of BurnCam Medical, a platform dedicated to making healthcare accessible in remote and underserved communities using an AI augmented telemedicine platform. Tailored for burn injuries, BurnCam connects experts, survivors, and local providers through secure video conferencing, texting, and HIPAA compliant image sharing. The platform also assists in evaluating burn wounds and expedites documentation so providers can spend more time with their patients. Orion was introduced to the burn care community through RSI where he worked as a mechanical engineer to develop next generation wound dressings to overcome drug resistant infections. There, he was privileged to work with burn healthcare professionals and survivors on a personal level which deepened his understanding of the challenges survivors face accessing expert care. At Wabbi, a software security startup, he strengthened his background in functional programming laying the foundational skills to create BurnCam.Presently, Orion leads the BurnCam team full time, has secured multiple NSF grants, was a MeHI finalist, and has partnered with Elevance BCBS health. Outside of work, he is an avid reader, paints, and dabbles in game development on the side.

In today’s digital economy, building security into development practices is no longer just a nice to have, but a functional requirement with development teams shipping more code faster than ever. Especially with the shift to remote work, the need for agility in application security to match today’s modern software development pipeline is essential. With Wabbi, organizations no longer have to sacrifice velocity for security. Show less -
Undergraduate Student ResearcherNortheastern University Jan 2018 - Feb 2020The Koppes Laboratory for Neuromodulation and Neuromuscular Repair focuses on the intersectionality between biomaterials, electronics, nerves, and the heart. At the Koppes lab, I developed skills in signal processing using MatLab and cell culturing. In mid 2018, I won a small research grant to independently explore the immune response modulation, dabbling in electrical engineering, expanding on wet lab skills and fostering a love of independent research. -
