About Orla Dolan

My role at Breakthrough Cancer Research combines my scientific background with my business experience to drive development, fundraising and PR for our cancer research team. We work to ensure great ideas are translated into new therapies for the cancers which cannot be cured today. We passionately believe that lack of resources should never be the reason why new effective cancer treatments can't reach the patients who need them. Our funded research programmes are focused on tackling poor prognosis and incurable cancers, those which still have unacceptably low survival rates (under 30%). Supporting these great teams of scientists, oncologists, surgeons, physicians and nurses is a privilege and a responsiblity. It is heartening to know the new treatments patients need are so close. Quality and focused cancer research has meant many more people survive a cancer diagnosis than could 10 years ago. We can ensure many more will survive with more investment in focused effective research.
