To date, the primary clinical area that I have focused on has been braindisorders across the lifespan; ranging from predicting outcome in newborn infants todiscriminating between healthy aging and neurodegenerative processes.These data-centric questions have led me to develop novel frameworks for mappingindividuals to an ordinal continuum of disease progression; combining generative modelswith discriminative learning and multi-modal models of clinical and medical imaging data.This has provided me with both a deep theoretical insight in machine learning methods intandem with a pragmatic appreciation for the pitfalls that may arise when translatingtheoretical advances to real world data. -
